Laura Summer has worked with pictorial and abstract images from the life of Christ for the past 10 years. Pondering questions of “What is contemporary religious art?” has led her to create Coming In and Going Out (Baptism – Death – Ascension).The installation is composed of 6 panels suspended from the ceiling in a circle, creating both an inner and outer space. Within the blue interior the viewer is lead through a semi abstract experience of the baptism of Christ. Circling the exterior the viewer receives impressions in red of the passion, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension.
